Electric Bolt Lock Applications

Embedded installation keeps the door hardware-free on the exterior while delivering reliable, monitored access control. All four OUBAO models are rated for commercial buildings, public facilities, schools, and residential complexes — indoors within −20 °C to 55 °C operating temperature.

Frameless glass door lobby in modern commercial building, electric bolt lock installed in frame

Glass Door Access Control

Concealed mortised installation preserves the transparency of frameless and framed glass doors. L / Z / U / ZL / LC bracket options accommodate varying glass thickness, frame profiles, and structural constraints without surface-mounted hardware.

Wooden & Metal Office Doors

Timer delay (0–8 s on OB-12/OB-13; 0–6 s on OB-18) prevents bolt engagement before the door has fully reached the frame — compatible with varying door closing speeds and door closers. NO/NC/COM dry contacts connect directly to card readers, keypads, and exit buttons.

Fire-rated door with push-bar hardware in a commercial building corridor

Fire-Rated Door Systems

Fail-safe models OB-10 and OB-12 retract the bolt on power loss, keeping evacuation routes clear. All four models carry CE certification. Suitable for fire door installation — confirm local regulatory acceptance before specifying, as EN 1634 fire door certification is not currently held for the electric bolt lock line.

Commercial Buildings & Office Lobbies

Lock status signal (OB-12: NO/NC/COM) and door status signal (OB-13 / OB-18: NO/COM) feed into building management and security monitoring platforms. Optional Hall Effect Sensor provides contactless position feedback for higher-cycle reliability in high-traffic lobby installations.

School campus corridor entrance with card reader and electric access control

Schools & Public Facilities

Fail-safe mode meets emergency evacuation requirements. Signal feedback from OB-12 and OB-18 links into campus security monitoring platforms. Bracket options cover the range of wooden and metal door profiles common in public-sector construction.

Residential apartment building entrance with video intercom and electric lock panel

Residential & Integrated Access Systems

Integrates with video intercoms, multi-tenant access panels, and smart home platforms via NO/COM signal contacts. PCB-integrated timer (0/3/6/9 s adjustable) ensures the bolt only engages once the door is confirmed closed — preventing strike damage and reducing maintenance calls.

Frequently Asked Questions

Technical and commercial questions from access control distributors, project engineers, and procurement teams — answered directly from OUBAO product data.

Fail-safe (power-off to unlock): When mains power or the access control supply is cut, the bolt retracts automatically and the door can be opened. This mode is required on fire exits, evacuation corridors, and any door where people must be able to exit freely during an emergency. OUBAO OB-10 and OB-12 are fail-safe models.

Electric drop bolt door lock fail secure (power-off stays locked): When power is lost, the bolt remains extended and the door stays locked. Used in server rooms, secure storage, data centres, and areas where an unlocked door during a power event would create a security risk. OUBAO OB-13 is the fail-secure model in the range.

Dual-mode: OB-18 is available as either fail-safe or fail-secure — specified at the time of order. This gives project specifiers and distributors flexibility to carry a single SKU for both installation types.
All OUBAO electric bolt locks connect to access control panels via standard NO/NC/COM dry contact signal outputs. The lock receives a 12 or 24VDC power supply and outputs either lock status (OB-12: NO/NC/COM) or door status (OB-13 / OB-18: NO/COM) back to the controller or monitoring system. Standard wiring topology supports card readers, exit request buttons, door position monitoring, and integration with third-party access control panels from all major brands.

Detailed English-language electric bolt lock wiring diagrams are provided on request — contact OUBAO directly or submit an inquiry through the product pages. The technical team can also walk through wiring via video call or WhatsApp for complex installations or multi-door projects.
All four OUBAO models — OB-10, OB-12, OB-13, and OB-18 — are rated for installation on glass doors, wooden doors, metal doors, and fire-rated doors. Bolt stroke ranges from 14 mm (OB-18) to 15.5 mm (OB-13), all in stainless steel, with a sensing distance of ≥ 10 mm across the entire series. Five mounting bracket types (L / Z / U / ZL / LC) cover the range of frame profiles, glass thicknesses, and structural configurations typically encountered in commercial and residential access control projects.
OUBAO electric bolt locks do not carry an IP ingress protection rating and are not designed for direct outdoor exposure — they are rated for indoor installation in commercial buildings, schools, offices, and residential complexes. Operating conditions: −20 °C to 55 °C, 10–90% RH. For covered or semi-outdoor entrances where rain ingress is controlled, a suitable protective housing can extend service life. For fully outdoor perimeter gates or external access points, OUBAO's magnetic lock range or a weatherproof electric strike may be a more appropriate solution — contact the team to discuss your specific installation environment.
OUBAO electric drop bolt locks use concealed (mortised) installation — the lock body is recessed into the door frame, and the bolt extends into a strike hole or strike plate in the door edge. The general installation sequence is: (1) mark and route the door frame to the correct dimensions for the lock body; (2) select and fit the appropriate bracket type (L / Z / U / ZL / LC) for the door material and frame profile; (3) connect the 12 or 24VDC power supply and run the signal wiring to the access control panel; (4) adjust the sensing distance and timer delay settings and run a function test.

OUBAO provides English-language installation videos and step-by-step photo guides on request. Remote installation support is available via video call or WhatsApp for distributors or first-time installers.
All four OUBAO electric bolt lock models carry CE certification. OB-13 additionally holds RoHS. The company holds Warringtonfire Certifire and UKCA for its door closer line. Full test documentation is available on request for import and project approval purposes.

UL certification and EN 1634 fire door certification are not currently held for the electric bolt lock range. If your project requires either, confirm local authority acceptance before specifying — OUBAO's technical team can advise on available documentation for specific markets.
OUBAO electric bolt locks carry a 2-year product warranty. For units confirmed defective within the warranty period, replacements are shipped with the buyer's next production order — no separate freight charge applies to the warranty units. Warranty claims are processed via OUBAO's dedicated technical support email. The team will request basic information (order number, model, failure description, and photos or video if applicable) and issue a determination within 3 business days. Consumable or user-damaged parts are handled case by case.
OUBAO's electric bolt lock solenoid has passed 500,000 ON/OFF cycle tests, verified by OUBAO's CNAS-accredited in-house laboratory. For context: a door cycled 100 times per day reaches 500,000 cycles in approximately 13 years. Copies of test reports are available on request.
